I have a 1963 7hp John Deere lawn & garden tractor. This has been a VERY good tractor for my lawn for many years. Just recently a part broke, I don't know the name of it. I think it is an idler pulley. It is located just below the pulley that comes off the engine. It has two pulleys on it. One pulley is for the belt that engages the mower deck, the other pulley engages power from the idler pulley off the engine.
I would really like to find a replacement for this to get my mower back up and running. Can anyone help? What am I looking for? Is there a parts catalog that would have this listed? And where could I possibly purchase one? I already have parts catalog PC855 which does not list this part.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Ken

Are you aware that only 1000 of these "market testing" units built in the 1st year of 1963. There is one on display in the Smithsonian Museum. 1964 were 8HP and 1965 introduced the 4 speed trans. Does it still have the fiberglass fenders? Mother Deere still carries parts for almost everything.
If you post over at weekendfreedommachines the antique Deere collectors will be all over you like flies on honey.

buickanddeere,
Thanks for the reply.
I read somewhere that the 1963 110 with a 7hp kohler engine was one of the first John Deere garden tractors. I have had it for over 30 years, and it's been a good mower.
Yes, it has the fiberglass fenders.
Thanks

If you still have the original deck that was fabricated instead of stamped steel I guess you really have something worth some money.

Your Deere dealer should still be able to get parts.

I believe the catalog number you need is PC876.

The link below is for tractors with a serial number above #3550.

By key number, which part do you need?

Bob,
Thanks for the reply. I need to first see if my serial number is above or below #3550. I think this diagram more closely matches what I have. What I have is still all together, it just looks like the bearings are shot in the pulleys on mine because the pulleys will not turn. However, I do not see any bearings on the diagram.
I will see if I can find a dealer near me and take this diagram with my part to them.
Thanks again!

If your serial number is below #3550, look at the link below.

If your dealer cannot help you, I have at least 1 NOS drive, the above serial #3550 style.
