I Bought the Package!

Have been looking for a new cordless drill and found some pretty good prices at Cummins Tools (similar to Harbor Freight). Went in today to buy the Rigid 14.4 volt for $89, then started swaying toward the Rigid 18 volt for $139, a guy never has enough power, right? Well, then I saw the Rigid "4 Tool Special"! 18 volt cordless drill, reciprocating saw and circular saw with the dandy little flashlight, two batteries and dual charger, all for only $299.

Yep, I bought the package.

Any experiences with the saws? Seems like they should work fine in limited use situations which will fit my needs perfectly.

Cordless tools have their place in the modern lifestyle. I been into amateur radio for a lot of years and will make this comment...try running a extension cord up a 180" radio tower just to drill one little hole...and you"ll know the worth of cordless drills. Just make sure your battery is charged up. Fred OH (KE8SS)

The reciprocating saw is handy, but it takes a lot of battery. Don,t get rid of your cord saw. It seems like all you do is change batteries with the cordless. I bought a set with the circular saw a few years ago. I like it and it is not quit as hard on batteries. One more thought on the recip. saw, when you pinch and the saw shakes you can lose a battery. They are expensive to replace. I'm not trying to be negative, I love cordless tools, but the recip. saw is my least favorite.

It will cut right through a 2x4 as far as I know.If there is nowhere to plug in a cord and they get the job done then its worth it.

Dug, as I'm sure your aware most of what Cummins sells is junk and thats okay as long as you know that going in. Brand names they sell can generally can be purchased anyplace for the same prices. These are almost 100% refurbished by someone. Doesn't mean they are bad just used. Good luck..... ..

Just kidding, enjoy your tools. I have never had great luck with anything cordless. I prefer plug in tools, but that's just me.

I prefer plug in saws but electricity is sometimes hard to come by where we live. Get tired of dragging the generator around so I figured I would give the saws a try. I couldn't live without my cordless drill. Have had a 9.6 volt Makita for several years and haven't used the corded drill in as long.

Seems rigid is making some tools for craftsman now. They did have a 19V drill, trim saw, light and carrying case for 125 bucks.
