Kawasaki TD18 weedeater Kaaz gas/oil ratio?

I just got the above mentioned weedeater at a yard sale. Looks good. Whats the correct ratio on this machine? Compression feels good but previous owner says its broke. Thought Id give it a try. Any help appreciated.

Boy, you hit one of my hot buttons. Why can't the manfactures simply cast the correct mix ratio into the plastic tank or the cap. If you have a couple of tools that are different, it is a pain to remember which is which.

Probably to be safe, I would mix it at 4oz. per gallon of non alchohal fuel. Use a good 2 cycle oil, though, designed for an air cooled engine. Echo, Stihl, Redmax, Husquvarna, Shindiawa all make good oil.

I found it. Its 25:1. Problem Ive found is that the ignition system will shock you but doenst seem to have enough power to generate spark? Ever seen this? If I ground screwdriver in sparkplug cap I feel a shock but with plug in cap I can never get a spark. What next?

I tried another spark plug. Ingnition is not creating enough spark Im afraid. I wonder if that can be repaired.

Depending on the age of this critter, you probably have points under the flywheel. A 25:1 fuel/oil mix tells me this thing could be quite old, most manufacturers have went to 50:1 on trimmers and a few still use 32:1 on saws. I would explore and see if there are wires going under the flywheel, if you do, file, gap and clean the points and see if that helps any.
