My mother had been with them for well over 40 years (maybe even 50), she was cancelled when a tornado damaged and destroyed several old farm buildings and the roof on her house - about $32,000 in damages. They said they 'd keep her auto, but the farm policy was history.

I dropped them when I was 22 and bought a new pickup, they saw what I was insuring and said they'd only provide libility, no comp or collision until I was 25. Went with Allied Ins and have been with them since. I'd stuck with FB because they had notoriously low premiums, found out Allied was even lower. They cover my (small) farm and have written a personal liability policy in case some Yahoo hits my tractor when on the road. Over the years I've filed 5 or 6 auto claims and have only once had an adjuster look at the damages (hail totalled out a car) - normally call my agent and he says get an estimate and we'll send you a check. Tractors and Equpment are covered uner my home owners policy and listed items.

Anyway, while I'm not privy to all the ins-and-outs I can tell you "Back Office" concerns of the insurance companies don't always match what people see in the street.

In our case, we had one stellar salesman who sold homeowners policies like there was no tomorrow in the Virginia Beach area. Not only was he allowed to by the execs, they'd give him rewards.

Until a good executive one day realized we where up the creek with no paddle if a Hurricane hit the Virginia Beach head on -- incredibly over-exposed in that one market.

Not only did they stop writing policies for that market, they'd use anything they legally could to drop policy holders.

I guess what I'm getting at, sometimes when "your" dropped, it's nothing you did or didn't do.

The "back office" has set different or new underwriting standards, and they're going to adjust who and what they cover to meet those new standards.

I'm going to check in using Farm Bureau Ins. when mine comes due this fall. If there pricing is close to State Farm, State Farm is history.

I've been with State Farm for 25yrs but they just won't insure my property nor my equipment. Seams like is all they want is the safe bets or low risk.

For liability she runs and hides. She will cover the land on both ends of a journey, but not the machine traveling between sites.
