Plews makes a tool like that, I think the drill part you have reference to is an easy out, should be tapered. Insert it into the broken off zerk and turn it CCW. Reminds me of a 4 way valve core tool. Easy out"s are a left hand spiral, when inserted and turned, it bites into the material. Object normally comes out.

Can you drill it out and get an easy-out into it?

Mark

Yes I could drill it out. What is an easy out? Is that the little tool I have? I guess I shouldn't buy something I don't how it works. Thanks for your help.

Some Zerks are threadless, they are just a press fit.....

Check @ an auto parts store, there are many sizes in self-tapping zerks that may fit if it is not the older style 1/8" npt.

Hi Mark do you know what size you drilled out the old zerk, that would help to know what size will fit again.

1. An easy out is a device used to remove broken off threadded hootuses. It is either square, with sharp corners, or round, tapered, and threaded backwards so you can apply backwards pressure to the thread that's stuck.

2. As Joe mentioned, there are lots of sizes of zerks readily available. If you have a "full service" auto store nearby, like my NAPA, you can go to the counter and get the clerk to get you the drill, tap, and new zerks to fit whatever hole you want.

I like to put zerks on sealed bearings like tie rods ends and all. I just drill the hole in the top disc, thread it and in goes the zerk.

Good luck,

Mark
