No more Craftsman Impact Sockets

Went to my local Sears to swap out some broken stuff today and to my disappointment, they no longer sell or carry impact sockets. When I asked a clerk, he replied that they were discontinued.The Craftsman line continues to shrink. Unfortunately, I'll have to upgrade my impact sockets as they die. I guess my concept of being guaranteed forever isn't the same as Sears.

The Sear's store here in town still has impact sockets, along with a lot of other tools. You may want to talk with the department manager if the clerk is telling you that they have been discontinued. As far as the "gauranteed forever" policy, I recently went through my tools and took some extensions, sockets, etc. in to see if they would replace them. Thought for sure I'd have to explain how they were broke and or damaged. I got all of them replaced except for a couple of apexes. I can't get mad about it because I don't know of very many other tool suppliers that will replace apexes either.

Not sure about what stores are stocking but I just got 221 hits on the Craftsman web site for impact sockets. I did notice that some of then were for Armstrong and SK ones that Sears is distributing.
Whenever I go into a store and get an answer I don't like or don't believe, I usually ask to speak to the manager. Sometimes you have to go up 2 or 3 levels to get the straight scoop. The sales droids on the floor will say anything just to get rid of you.

is the discontuing just at your local store, or nationwide? im looking at the o 05-06 tool book, and there is about a page and a half of just craftsman impact sockets, granted they are the stupid catalog/online exclusive, but they arent discontinued. (acutually been thinking about getting the lazer etched set.

That happened to me and I said I needed them for my job and Id have to go to the auto parts store and get a different brand.The two ladies in the tool dept. gave me my money back.

I had similar issues with Craftsman tools lately.
I tend to think it's more store management and sales staff that "discontinue" items. They just don't want to deal with the paperwork and other hassles involved. I've shifted all my tool purchases to a reputable dealer that sells S-K tools. No problems no hassles. Sears is like any other smoke and mirrors operation.
Anybody want a deal on a 6 month old POS Kenmore gas stove?

I bought this stove new at Sears to replace the 18 year old Kenmore we had. I didn't however buy their service plan. You should'nt have to buy a $200 service plan just to insure that a new appliance works right, or to have warranty protection.
Anyway I converted it to propane per the instructions in their manual and set the fuel pressures and the drafts on each burner per their manual. Still could'nt get it to burn as clean and efficent as it should. I contacted their service dept.and they sent a man down and he screwed with it for 2 hours and couldn't get it right, but still whacked me 118 bucks for the service call. My propane supplier checked the incoming fuel pressure and it was exact to what the Sears manual specified.
The stove this replaced burn't clean and efficent and it would have a 20 cup pot of coffee perking in 5 minutes wheras the new stove takes almost 15 minutes and you have to clean all the black soot off the pot when done. The drafts are wide open and the gas pressure set down far enough to get a blue flame.
The old stove was replaced because Sears no longer stocked parts and Mama wasn't happy about the condition of the burner pans, which can't be found.
So now as I replace appliances, tools, etc. I stay away from Sears and deal with local suppliers that care whether your satisfied.

You're right and I wouldn't buy the insurance either. But if you still have the old stove, try a Google search for "obsolite sears parts". One that came up for all brands is www.itsNLA.com. There are a few business that restore old appliances, so do a search for them and ask if they can direct you to a supplier for the old parts. And see if you can get Sears to replace the stove and refund the service call. Some radio stations & newspapers have consumer advocate reporters. Tell Sears you're not satisfied and if you don't get results from them, you'll ask the station or paper if they can help. Businesses don't want bad publicity. Good luck.

Seems they should at least give you some credit toward something else.. I kow that does not replace the sockets, but better than nothing.

The Sears website still lists Craftsman impact sockets so they should have been able to get you some.
