I've got a 67 chevy truck that needs lots of sheetmetal work so im in need of a nice little mig welder, i've been surfing the web looking for some kinda of info. to point me in right direction i guess i've found an unbias place to make my decision from. Now my question i have seen the names hobart, lincoln, miller, clarke(they have good prices own their site),esab, and campbell hausfeld(they also have good closeout prices on their site). Im not looking for something cheap, just something reliable and a pretty good deal(you guys know what i mean) so any HELP IN MAKING A RIGHT DECISION WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS.

Stick with the big three names , Hobart, Miller, Lincoln. I have a Hobart 135, very satisfied.

I used to work at a place that sold Lincoln, Hobart, and Clarke. I agree with Walt. Stay with the name brands. We had a lot of trouble with the Clarke, and almost none from the others. Good Luck

Hi Mike, I would use a acteylene torch. As you braze weld the cracks and such you also stress relieve the metal making a much better and long lasting repair.

If you have your mind made up on Mig, then the Lincoln SP125 is a good machine and so is the Miller. I also used a Century as a flux cored machine and was impressed. I have the Lincoln SP100 and it does a great job for what it was designed for.
