hydraulic oil for Komatsu D21A-5

My manual calls for SAE 10w oil, service rated CD. I am unable to find this locally, so am using a mutigrade oil that is not rated for disel. So far, I have had to mix two grades--15W-40, disel rated, and 5W-40, not disel rated. Am I doing harm? What do you recommend? I am thanking you in advance.

If the oil you are using is like the cheap junk they have at wally mart, then you are doing harm.
The cheap hyd. oil will turn to foam when it gets hot. Foam means air, air means cavitation, cavitation means destroyed pumps and control valves. Use the best hyd. oil you can get.
As Dave said its cheap compaired to replacing hyd. pumps and valves.

Stoker, on large equipment like this you should really follow their advice as close as possible. Lots of times fluids like SAE 10wt or the TO-4 oils or such can't be found at the local farm stores. Look for an actual oil distributor. They will usually sell over the counter. The prices aren't THAT much more and you're getting a known product. Remember, the system you're trying to protect is worth well in excess of $10,000! Oil is cheap insurance.
