Husky Chain Saw Idle

Have a Mdl 51 Rancher. When you let off on the trigger it idles down so low it quits. Which hole on the side?? adjust idle without messing up mix, ect?

Hi Gaby. I'll asume your air filter is clean.
The "hole" farthest to the blade is the high, about 3/4 turn out. The other hole is the low, about 1 3/4 out. Should be an L and H next to them on the cover. I fine tune from there by sound. I'll adjust the low so throtle response is quick. I'll adjust the high so the saw runs not to rich and not to lean. By sound for me. Then if the saw idles to slow or fast you adjust that with the third screw that is in direct contact with the throtle linkage. Set the idle so the saw keeps running but the chain CAN NOT keep turning. If you can't get it to run this way other problems could be (in the order I would look at) sucking air from a cracked fuel line or cracked insulator block or damaged gaskets inbetween the carb and the cyl. An inexpensive carb. kit. A blocked gas tank vent can also give your saw problems. Worse case would be air coming in from the crank seals. Good luck. Dan.

Most I seen have 2 mix. adj. The one you need to find is the one on the throttle, give it about a quarter turn in. Some, the idle can be affected if either one of the mixture screws are off a little.
