Sorry it took so long to reply. I didn't "check in" until just now.

The pressure injector is, in fact, the one for $30 that fits just before the high pressure hose (downstream). Upstream is the garden hose side. It siphons the soap mix from a bucket via a small, clear tube (like fuel line). I've only used mine once (to clean my deck), but it really worked well. Like I said before, play around with your detergent mix, starting with a very WEAK one, because it REALLY foams up at that pressure! I didn't have to modify my nozzle to use it.

and this is the downstream one, says "Downstream injectors are installed after the pump. In order to function, the pressure must be lowered with the use of either a dual lance and soap nozzle"

I don't know why they would say one that a soap injector installed on the high-pressure side is an "upstream" one. If you think of the pressure washer as a river, where the water enters (hose) would have to be "upstream", since the water flows from the source to the mouth (downstream). So, closer to the outlet (high pressure end) would be "downstream". In my opinion, anyway...
