I have a few old alternaters kicking around in my barn and would like to know if someone could post or let me know where I could find a diagram and plans to build my own under hood welder setup.
Also have an automotive AC compressor I'd like to turn into an underhood air compressor.
any and all help would be apprieciated.

Hi Jim, The best compressors are piston, York, Frigidaire, etc: I have a tire pump I made from a York several years ago. It'll pump 150psi in about 5minutes at 1000rpm. I used two 30lb refrigerent tanks. I add any oil I have laying around about once a year, about a pint at a time. It will run a 1/2" Impact wrench if you want to wait a few minutes. Other than that there not much use as they can't pump enough volume(cfm). Stay away from the radial pumps, R-12, etc.
