I went in on Friday the 10th and got the tubes snipped. YIKES...that hurts. It is about 2 notches higher on the pain threshold then getting a tooth cavity filled. The worst was the pain and swelling afterward. I am doing better now, a little purple downthere still. It will be nice not having to worry about my wife being late, I guess I need to get a sample ready in about 6 weeks or so.

My wife got spade 14 years ago, going thru a divorce and thinking about getting nuetered. After reading this not sure I want to. Does anybody know how much it costs? No insurance.

Wife's been on me for 3 years...girls are 18...she's 34 and I'm 41 and she don't think we need any more...anyway.

Younger brother got neutered several years ago and his wife gave him shite for months afterwards. Seems his "nurse" commented several times on the wonderful job he'd done shaving hisself. His nurse was a guy and seemed to enjoy his work a bit too much...

Sposed to take off work (parts manager for Ford garage) for a couple days and then NO lifting for 3 more. First day after...back to work. Felt so good that the second day he decided to help a mech. onna brake job. Nuts swelled to lemon size (from radish-seed sized, prior) and he missed next 6 days of work...shoulda listened to the doc, eh?

No typo here, guys. She was one of those girls who made life tough on herself. She had her daughter at 16...I met her when both our daughters were only 3 1/2 years old. She's done well by herself and the kids, owns her own business but made no bones about how rough this makes it on a mother (really only a child herself at the time). Thankfully, our daughters have learned from this. They're both 18, with no plans of having the same issues.

I hate to use the term mistake, because Danielle is very special. If not for that "mistake" I'd have never known either of them. She's starting college in August, and plans on a medical degree...it was rough on 'em both for the first few years, but they're so close, it's really scarey! If only I could get that close to my own daughter. Yesterday's Dad's day card from Dani made my day. Told me she only hopes her kids (someday...way down the road) can have a dad like me....makes me feel kinda squishy just thinking about it.

Man do I feel lucky. I"m comeing up on a year since mine. I can honestly say that other than a bit of discomfort, no real pain involved. But I wasn"t jumping around the next day either. (Did have to pick green beans though.) My wife actually gave me 3 whole days off. I was told 25 cleanings before testing...guess it depends on your ambition level!!!

Use more ice!!!!

Mine was easy like this too - I babied myself that day, the next morning I was up and making breakfast for the family (very slowly though) - that night we went to a birthday party for a friend in the pub (again slowly).

About 3 days of taking it pretty easy, I was back on top of my game - more or less ;)

Can someone please explain to me why one would get a vasectomy? Seriously. And can you explain how things work afterwards? I mean are you shooting caps or just plastic bullets? Does the act feel a lot different/less satisfying afterward?

My wife got her tubes tied after her second c-section, and by God, I feel luckier every day.

Just cuts the tube from the seed bin... The actual seeds, as it were, are a small part of the total fluid that comes out.
So yeah, you'd be shooting blanks all carrier, no seed. From what I've read some small percentage of men feel a little discomfort at first but that goes away.
One of my friends had it done and said it felt like his leg had been sewn to his belly. His son had it done (years later of course) by a doctor specializing in "Painless vasectomy" and said it was no big deal.

Sheesh! I had mine done by two guys that were at the end of their residency in urology at the UM hospital. They used anesthetic and clean instruments in a hospital operating room, and I didn"t have near the trouble most of you guys had. Heck, I even watched while they did it. I did fall off a rolling office chair three dsays later and rip out a couple of stitches, but I still had it easier than you guys.

Reminds me of the story about the two bulls talking over the fence....

Your lucky!
I was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer last Feb after deciding to get my hemmoroids checked out.It has spread to my liver and spine. The doctors will use some of the new drugs on the marketm oxyplaten, avastin, erbitux, and a bone strengthener in different combinations, but I STILL need a miracle medicine. I am going to trya recently rediscovered chinese herb variant of wormwood called armensinin which was previously used for a diferent purpose. As a result I checked on my life insurance and pension. Surprise Surprise, I don't have a pension unless I am already on disability orsigned up for disability if I am still on the payroll, which includes sick leave and vacation time. If I died in a car accident then for example my family would only get what I paid into the pension plus interest which is a kick in the pants. I got a pretty good handle on the situation with a lot of life insurance but its definitlely good to check on these things expecially since I have 4 young kids at home yet.
Good Luck to all, and get yourself a colonoscopy every 2 years after you are 35 to be safe. It can save you a lot of grief, stress, and misery later on, and money in the long run if you are diagnosed. My liver is over half full of cancer and I still can't feel it. Only a cat scan can see it.

Dean, my blessings and prayers. My little sister's best girlfriend, young too, just came down with a real bad case of breast cancer. Never smoked, nothing in the family history, mamagraphies regularly, then out of nowhere. I do not understand such things. My prayers Dean.

Sorry to hear that. A friend of mine lost his dad to Colon cancer in Feb. It took 10 months from the diagonosis to take him. Did you have any syptoms or problems of the colon cancer?

Congratulations, now you are a useless tool like many of us. It took 4+ months to get rid of the last swimmer. At test time I was handed only a sample bottle. I gave her a puzzled look and asked if there was anything else. The lab tech asked "what"? I asked if she had any "men's romance magazines" for inspiration. The lab tech asked why? I told her I'm 25 years past my prime; it just doesn't have the ambition and ability it used to have. She said think a about your wife. I said OK I'll think about her 25 years ago. I was wrecked on Dec 20th and physically over did it on Dec 23rd. The next three weeks were pure swollen discolored and infected h*ll .It was tough hobbling around nosy family for two weeks over the holidays wanting to know why I was �acting so different�?

I called a lab near my house yesterday and I can have them do the test, the sample has to be less than one hour old. I will have my wife perform the exercise and then I will deliver the sample to the lab on a Friday AM I suppose.

I was looking at the commentson the vasectomy. You said if you got it your wife would not get so many headaches. My wife always complained of headaches until I told her when you get sick it always goes to the weakest part of your body.

Midwest, I did that back in 76. It sounds to me like you didn't follow the Doctors orders. But then I didn't either. The part I remember most was when the Doctor unlatched them dang vicegrips, what comes to mind is the old spring loaded paper window shades. And if you see a hundred dollar bill on the ground, and nobody around to pick it up and hand it to you, just go on and check back in a week to see if it's still there, cause it ain't worth the pain..

Yeah? Congratulations!

...but, my buddy did the same thing because his wife told him that it'd cure her "headaches". Mmm Hmm? She gets more headaches now than ever before, and he still aint getting any...headache relief. And, he used to sound just like Lee Marvin, but over the years, he's sounding more and more like Tiny Tim. I called him the other night and said let's go out for a pop (beer), and he said "No, staying in to watch deperate housewives with the wife", dawg gone it, and he still didn't get any...headache relief. LOL.

Congratulations. But if it'll take you 6 weeks to get a sample ready, umm, I'm not sure you really needed to go through with the surgery, LOL.

If it makes you feel any better I ended up with an infection. Bad place for one. That was in '76. Back then you had to argue to get the surgery.

I'll bet your wife is appreciative...
