We are used to having bats take care of our mosquito problem in the summers. Lately, though, we haven't seen many bats, and we are a little concerned. My wife put up two new bird feeders this year, but they are close to the house. She is afraid that the birds might be driving the bats away. What do you guys think?

I live 60 mi east of st louis. If you have any extra bats, send them my way. Strange, I have not seen any bats in a long time. This year I have no bats, blue birds, martins and very few barn swallows or chimney sweeps. Hummingbirds are few and in between also. Dont know if the migration pattern has changed or the sunami and hurricanes have some bearing on it.

old is right. Build a few bat houses and they will fill them. It may take 2-3 years for them to find the houses, but they will.

There are several good websites on bats and bat houses. Google "Bat Houses" and you'll have all the info you need. Pay special attention to color, height and which direction the bat house should face.

Nope bats fly at night and most birds fly during the day. If you want more bats build them some houses and they will come
