Hi!

I'm working on a IH 584 engine rebuild. I'm almost ready to put everything together, but I am worried about torqueing the head bolts under the rocker arm. The bolts have to be retorqued after the engine runs for 15 minutes, and the IH manual shows a special, bent wrench that can reach under the rocker arm and let you use a regular torque wrench above the arm (this avoids having to remove the rocker arm). The tool looks like a C wrench that is in-line with the bolt, rather than perpendicular to it. Naturally, the IH number is obsolete. Anyone know where I can buy one? Thanks!

I cut part of the handle of of a box end and bent the handle to form a U, then welded a large nut on it along with an additional pice of steel on the upright portion to keep it from twisting.

Make your own out of a combination wrench. Heat it and bend it, and weld a socket to it, so you have a square hole to plug the torque wrench into.

Or, simply remove the rocker arms, and retorque the head. It won't hurt to set the valves an extra time, anyhow.

Or flag down your local Snap-On or MAC tool guy. They could probably set you up with $$$$ something!
