I acquired an old tire changer and the cone nut to spin down to center and hold the rim while breaking the bead is missing. Anyone know of a source?

This is a May Tire-Matic model M-62B from May Tire Equipment, John Bean Division of FMC Corporation. It uses air to break the bead and an electric motor operation to remove and install the tire from the rim. According to an internet search, Snap On aquired this division some years ago.

I have this machine all repainted and ready to go, but it won't work without the big cone nut. It fits a large threaded shaft about 1 3/4 inches across and possibly a 4 thread per inch pattern. I tried one from a Coats machine and it does not work. Thanks for the help.

If its an acme or square thread a machinist can make it.You just need the size and thread style.

A good machinist can produce any thread... may have to grind a tool to cut specialized threads, but it can be done! Need to measure major diameter and # of threads per inch.

Have you checked with Snap-on?
If they aquired the company, they may have the cone nut you are looking for.
