I was wondering if anyone could tell me where to hook up the tank to my used century 160 amp welder? It was given to my husband and there is a jerry rigged hose on the back side. Could this be where the tank connects? I don't want to destroy the best garage I have ever had lol!

The jury rigged hole in the rear is where the the original gas inlet was plugged into after coming from thr regulator. The gas valve is built into the handle and is activated when the trigger is pulled. Take the cover off and there will be a hard nylon from the rear to the wire feed and gas valve. Clore Automotive used to be the supplier for century.

I assume your tank is CO2 or Argon/CO2 mix.

Sounds like it is a wire-feed welder that was converted to MIG. If that's the case, anything is possible. If you trace back from the gun, you should find a solenoid valve inside the welder. Whatever is on the other side of that valve is where you hook up the welding gas.

I suggest you get advice from a good welding supply house, concerning gas, regulator, flowmeter, etc. Properly used , it is very safe, with no danger of explosions. (Inert gases will not burn, in fact they will extinguish flames) The gas is under very high pressure & requires the correct regulator , etc..... ..

Need a few details - model number, type of welder would be helpful. Wire welders use inert gas, so little chance of "blowing up" garage, However they need to have a pressure regulator at the tank. Tanks will run upwards of 2500psi, and you don't want to put that kind of pressure on the system. Suggest you contact Century for a manual.
