OT: Asphalt seal coating

I am new to asphalt. Can I seal coat my drive myself? If so, what is a good quality product to use? Its ! a 30x50 pad.

I would recommend doing this yourself to save the money, you should be able to buy 5 gallon buckets of blacktop sealer for $20 or so per bucket, plus buy the brushes. This is not hard to do, especially for a 30X50 area. Just dump the stuff on the asphalt and brush it in.

plh, Call These folks in Amarillo Texas! Virden Perma-Built They have specialized in sealer, and seal coat products since 1950 They have one of the best Asphault sealers out there.
There # is 806-362-2761 give em a call. I use their fiber glass wind mill rods, and rod guids, Their coatings for water tanks is the best especially on old steel tanks that are starting to have pin hols.

I did mine once, but usually have it done. Be prepared to do some "serious stirring"; tends to settle out in the bucket. If I were doing it again, I'd build a paddle to fit bucket that would chuck into a half-inch drill; drill appropriate size hole in lid; remove and insert paddle from bottom; reinstall lid and stir. All I used to spread it was a big squeegee designed for that purpose. Local contractor is coming Tuesday to make an estimate to seal mine.

Just go to some hardware store and get the "good" grade of sealer and application tools. They can figure how much you need with a chart. Needs to be really clean of weeds, dust and dirt and stay off the new a couple days. Get a filler for any cracks.

Great question!

I have 1100 ft that I have to seal and I have been thinking about the do-it-yourself approach. I had it professionally done about 4 years ago and it didn"t last very long. I am awaiting the answers on this one.
