Can I put a check valve here (yellow arrow)? before the pressure switch? or does the valve have to be before it?

I think if you place a check valve there ,your pressure switch wouldn't work. Is there a reason you need the check valve? Ron Mn.

The pressure switch has to look at tank pressure with nothing in between the pressure switch and the tank. The small line for the head pressure relief must relieve pressure off the compressor head, but not bleed off the tank.

Sorry, I cannot make out the plumbing well enough to tell for sure, but is that a "T" fitting below the pressure switch? with the side of the "T" running to the back to the large copper line from the compressor output???

If so, the check valve needs to be on the back side of the "T", and not on the bottom as you have indicated.

Putting the "T" where you have indicated will keep the pressure switch from seeing tank pressure. It will run till pressure shuts it off, then as it dumps the head pressure the pressure switch will instantly turn it back on, and the cycle will continue over and over. The bottom of that pressure switch has to have an uninterrupted passage to the tank.

Give us a pic from taken from about 45 degrees to the left of where this one was taken.

Charles
