OT: Another Fire... That's #2

Well this fire was 3 miles away from the house. About 400a and I seen it about 5min after it started. Jumped a 60ft roadway just as we got there.

Dang there getting closer!

Nothing like fighting fire at 102� in the sun.

We had a person deceide to burn some brush in the middle of the day two weeks ago and it got out of hand, It took out over 20 homes and burned close to four thousand acres before it was put out. Lucky nobody was hurt very bad, Over 20 fire depts in volved and DNR, The fire depts. did such a great job and saved over fifty other homes that could of been lost.Now the sad thing is there will be no federal aid for these people who lost everything and didnt have enough insurance. because it didnt destory over 50 homes in this fire. The older gent who the fire got away from had no insurance. Not a good deal at all

T_Bone -- where ARE you? 102 degrees! Wow!
Dad was a Wildlife Management Area Manager for the State of WV. We grew up in the trees of eastern WV. One of the most alerting -- will get you wide awake in a hurry -- scents is waking up to the smell of leaves burning....

Hi Dale,

In AZ and that was 102� in the shade and 112� in the sun. Were running late on temperatures above 100� this year.

Our fires are from a very wet winter that we don't normally have. We now have alot of dry grass that's linking the bushes to the trees thus the fire speads very easy. Normally there's enough bare ground between the vegetation that fire has a hard time to keep burning, but not this year.

Fire #1 burnt about 10sq miles before they got it out.

Yessiree, heading into a very hot and dry Arizona summer. Humidity was 15% this afternoon and around 100 deg. I"ve been welding and doing a summer overhaul and refit on a SNOWPLOW for the last four days.
Sounds like a pretty bad fire up around Carefree AZ. about got it wrapped up though.

Sounds like maybe you'd better get the snowplow done and keep it handy to start scraping off dry grass.

There ain"t nothin west of CG cept for some Jackrabbits and Wetbacks. I am in eastern Az in Ft Thomas.
My neighbor and I cut in some firebreaks and did some burnouts a couple weeks ago so our houses are safe.We are in the middle of twenty acres of 6" dry grass though.

Hi RJ,

I let the puppy in last night then spent the next hour looking for a fire. I guess I was smelling the one from Thrusday.

Can you believe a 114� Sunday? Dang 12� rise in two days. Are we going to see 124� again this year?

Its headed toward 98 here in n-tex today with a humidity in the 60"s. 100 deg is ok as long as the humidity stays down. I remember one year the temp hit 117. warmest on record for this town. july and august its nothing to see many,many straight days of over 100
