help with loading pics on forum

I see no one else has taken the time to help you out so here it is:

First, your picture has to be located on an internet server computer somewhere, for instance in one of the image galleries at this site.

There are a couple of ways to make the picture show up in your post. One way is to insert the appropriate html coding in your message. The other, easier, way is to fill in the proper information in the correct line below the post box. The proper information to fill in is the URL location of the picture. The correct line below the post box is called the "Optional Image URL" block.

For instance, here's the URL information for the latest tractor picture in the Tractor Photo image gallery:

You get this information by right-clicking on the picture and selecting "properties" from the list that results. In the dialog box that pops up, right click on the line titled "address (URL)" and click on "select all" in the list that comes up. This will highlight (select) the picture address information. After this is highlighted, right-click on it again and select "copy". This will copy the picture address information to your computer's clipboard.

Go to your post box and type your message. Before you submit your message, insert your cursor in the "Optional Image URL" block beneath the post box. Right-click in that block and select "paste" from the list that comes up. This will put the picture location in the block and you can continue with submitting your message to one of the forums.

At the top of this message is an example of my doing just that in this post, using Mark's tractor photo that he had uploaded to the gallery.

First off you will need to have the picture located somewhere on your computer. It should be in .jpg image format. You get it from your camera to your computer using the instructions/software that came with your camera.

Once you have a .jpg image on your computer hard drive you should check the image size in pixels. You should be able to use whatever image software that came with your camera to do this. Ideally, for web and forum use, the size should not be greater than 640x480 pixels. You may have to use image editing software to reduce the size. I think this site automatically reduces the size but others do not. Make sure you remember the exact location and name of your picture. Only use standard letters or numbers in the name. Do not use spaces or "special" characters. Write down the full path to the picture on your hard drive - you'll need it when you upload the picture to the image galleries on this site. An example might be: C:\My Documents\My Pictures\AllisB.jpg.

Go to one of the image galleries and click on "add your photo" at the top of the list of available photos. In the dialog box that comes up, fill in the information as necessary and click on "next step". In the next dialog box, click on "browse". In the window that pops up, navigate to the location on your computer where your picture is located. Select your picture and click on "open" or something similar to insert the picture location on your hard drive into the space provided. Then click "submit" and your picture will upload to the image gallery on this site. You may not get an indication that the upload is completed, so give it plenty of time.

If you're wanting to insert a photo from this website (or any other website, for that matter) then you'll need to right click on the actual photo, then left click on Properties. Look for the "Address: (URL)" (it should look something like;>Link

Now you're ready to put it in your post. Here's a basic HTML primer, that I kinda like, but... here's the basic structure required to post a photo;
1. Open your HTML command with the "<" symbol (remove the quotes)
2. Specify an image with "IMG" and follow this with a blank space.
3. Specify the source of the image with "SRC=http://www.tractorshed.com/gallery/tphotos/a27750.jpg", where everything after the "=" is the URL of the photo that you want to insert
4. Close your HTML command with the ">" symbol

An important note is that the photo that you're linking to MUST be on avialable on the internet (i.e. NOT in your "My Pictures" folder, on your computer). Personally (and this is not an advertisement) I like PhotoBucket, partly because each photo includes (not only the 'basic' URL, but) the entire HTML 'tag' required to insert the picture.

So...

Did you give PhotoBucket (or another similar website) a try? I know (for a fact) that any photo that you upload there automatically displays the full HTML tag for you....
