Below is what I copied from Dewalt"s web site about chuck removal. Since I don"t know your exact model, this may or may not apply. If I were you, I"d give them a call (they have a toll free number) and ask. From Dewalt"s web site: Please follow the instructions below to remove a chuck: Most reversing drills have a left hand threaded screw inside the chuck. If the unit has the screw follow all 3 steps below. If the unit does not have the screw use only step 3. 1.) Place chuck key into one of the holes of the chuck (for keyed chucks only) on the right side. With the chuck facing toward you, strike the key in a clockwise direction with a wooden mallet or similar object. This will loosen the screw inside the chuck. 2.) Open chuck jaws fully. Insert screwdriver into front of chuck between jaws to engage screw head. Remove screw by turning clockwise(left-hand screw). 3.) Place key in chuck again. With the chuck facing toward you place the key on the left side of the chuck. Using a wooden mallet or similar object, strike key sharply in a counter-clockwise direction. This will loosen the chuck so that it may be unscrewed by hand. Instructions for removing a keyless chuck: Remove left hand threaded screw if necessary(steps 1& 2). Insert a 1/4" hex key or larger short end into the chuck and tighten. Facing the tool strike the long end of the hex wrench sharply counter clockwise as it is a standard thread. There is no way to stop the motor from turning. It may require several attempts to loosen the chuck.
