Hi Jay, What I do here on a "new" install is use 1tsp of chlorine per 10gal water, fill tank full, then pump thru the piping to each faucet, and let that sit for 48hrs, then pump that water out of the tank onto the ground then fillup again and flush the lines at the faucet, then the water is usable for bathing but not drinking (too much chlorine). After the second tank is used then it's drinkable. Don't get the tank water on any plants or trees or it will kill them this first clean out. Then twice a year, once in late spring, once in late fall, I use 1tsp per 100gal to sanitize and this water can be pumped around trees but not onto trees. After one tank refill then this water is drinkable. This is of course if your water supply is NOT chlorinated to begin with. Don't forget to drain the water heater or you'll know about it in your shower. Does your water hauler sanitize his tank often? Or deliver too farms for livestock? Our State water Dept requires a anit-syphion valve on each fill pipe at the well so when the water is shut off and the fill hose is disconnected the line drains about 1/4gal of water onto the ground each time thus flushing out the hose connection between users. With 500 current users, we've never had a water contamination problem at any of our 4 well sites. We have 3- 15000gal water storage tanks at each well site and sanitize once a month at 1gal chlorine (bleach) per 10000gals and that is drinkable. T_Bone
