MTD mowers suck

From day one if the grass was "That much to high" or that much to wet)(I should say damp)then the yard bug would plug up with grass in the first 20 feet !! I had to cut the deck all apart on my "Almost new $1800.00 mower and weld in a custom shoot so the dang thing would discharge the grass, Works like a million now! MTD has since dropped the complete "Yardbug" line from all it's companies. I'll see if I can post a pic of my handy work later

But, I've got some other MTD that I have been beating on for several years now. Bought it for something like $75 four years ago, figured I'd get a season or two out of it. It just doesn't die.

Traction, or the lack of, is the biggest problem. And that's inherent with any front engine unit. Some day, I'll get another Snapper for that.

Silly old fool that I am, I just "had" to live up in these hills 'cause it was so darned "pretty". WRONG!

Problem #1 was traction; it appeared that I was going to need a mule instead of a mower. Also thought it was a little weird when I noticed that all the neighbors had chains and rear wheel weights on their lawnmowers. :>(

Anyway, I went thru 3 different riding mowers before I finally looked the other way, bit my lower lip and bought this little yellow gizmo three years ago.

The combination of the hydro, the duel blades, the 53� cut and the beefy little 22-horse motor solved my problem. I wouldn�t trade this little guy for all those green types thrown together. It is a first cousin of a badger and it cuts and climbs like a billy goat!

Like CN says, any mower will plug if you are trying to mow when it is too wet. Boy, I dunno, but I think you chopped up a damned good mower for nothing.
