Pressure Washer - Honda

I have a 2300# pressure washer with a Honda engine...the owners manual states not to let the engine run whe you release the trigger, for any length of time ,because that creates heat....you guys that have washers,how long do you let yours run with out the trigger pulled ? what would be the max time ? THANKS Don

A Honda dealer told me a maximum of 3 minutes without cooling the pump will damage the pump. This was on a 3000 psi unit with a 13hp Honda motor. I just tie the trigger open on the wand when Im outside.

I try not to let mine run under a dead load for over a minute, if I can help it. Also, after I stop the engine, I keep trigger open for a few minutes so water can flow & cool pump down.....

Thank you for the comback,that is what I needed to know.....by the way I think I'll make a lock out to keep the valve part ways open, at all times..... ..... .

Don, I am no expert on pressure washers, but I think, from the way the unloader valve works, that trigger needs to be either full on, or full off..... Davis
