I'd like to know what you guys use for solvent in your parts washers. I was using kerosene but that didn't work good enough. I then bought some "Concentrated Degreaser" from Harbor Freight. It is made by Genlabs and is mixed with water from 1 to 8 to 1 to 150. I mixed it 1 to 20 and it was worthless. I'm trying it mixed 1 to 3 now but I'm not impressed. I need to find an economical solvent and would like it to be environmentally friendly.

Any ideas?

I use mineral spirits in my parts washer and it works pretty well. There are more agressive solvents out there, but I am happy with mineral spirits. Any good paint supply place will have it.

Normally I use Graymills Agitene 141, it works great. Recently, I ran out & bought some other brand at Advance Auto. It did not clean parts near as well,& it is much more irritating on my hands..... .

I use some stuff from Tractor Supply Company. It's worked good so far. It costs about $21.99 per 5 gallons.

I will second the TSC stuff. It is about as cheap as anything that I have found and works as good as the professional stuff that I have been around.

Ask an oil supplier that handle fuels and lubricating oils for a parts cleaning solvent. I haven't tried lately but I am sure I could get it from at least one of the 3 companies here.

When I still had the shop I would buy it 55 gallons at a time. Cheaper by the gallon that way and the washer would hold it. I would think you could buy a gallon on up. There's a good chance you will need your own container (unless you buy 55 gallons).

I head down to a local bulk plant with my 5 gal jugs. Pull up to the pump that is labeled SOLVENT. Pump and pay.

I like to use Castrol Super Clean on grease and crud. It is OK for environment but I don't have a parts washer.

How do you get rid of the solvents when they get to dirty to use any more?
