Is there any web sites out there that has information on anvils such as mfg. names and discriptions and information on anvils? Or can any of you folks tell me anything regarding this? I bought a Hay Budden 150 lb. anvil last night looks like its made in N.Y. but cant read all the information on the anvil. I know some of the makes are Fisher, Trenton, N.J. and think Peter Wright and Mousehole? not sure of spelling tho. Tonight there selling a 150 lb. Fisher (has an eagle on the side) anvil in nice shape at the auction and gess I'll go after work and check it out.
Thanks Obie

I searched using "blacksmith anvil". There are several websites that have articles concerning various anvils and their history.

Hay Budden is a very good anvil. Typically a forged anvil with steel top. I have two of em. Fisher Eagle anvils also good and is a cast steel anvil but usually not as desireable as Hay Budden. Ive had 3 of them. As for value, that depends on condition mostly. Are the edges straight with only a minor ding or chip along the way or does it look like a hungry beaver has been knawing on it for days down the sides of the top. At blacksmithing get togethers good ones bring $2 a lb easy. Crappy ones can go for $1 or so. On Ebay, Ive seen nice ones bring $5 a lb. Anvils are being made to this day of course and can bring as much as $4 or $5 a lb. Largest Fisher ever made was a 1600 lber. Now thats an anvil. Get the book "Anvils in America". Good info on the subject.
