A horse and a half isn't much horsepower on that lathe. For the same money you can find an old South Bend or LaBlonde lathe around 5 horse that you can do some real work with.

Hey,
I took a good look at these and I do not think you could flip them for much of a profit myself. I think they may be a good buy to keep however. $3500 canadian is about NEW full retail for those two pieces IMHO. You would have a really tough time moving those for near that. ENCO has a 12"x36" lathe on sale now. See:

I have a Jet 12X36 Lathe, and a Jet 16 Mill drill, I've had them about 20 years now. Handier then he!!. I don't know how much you do around your place but for 2k I would buy both and keep them.

I didn't look at the links, but if they are really Taiwanese manufacture there definately worth the price. Taiwan is now at the point where Japan was when they made the transition from junk to quality products. I have a Rong Fu RF31 mill drill and the quality of construction is far better than the chinese clones.
