I presently own a "Delta" metal band saw that I purchased at a farm supply store and it is not the quality that I need in my shop. Does anyone recommend a heavier duty saw with larger capacity than 6". What have you had good results with? Thank you very much in advance! deereford

I have a Dayton, put out by Granger. It will cut 12" wide x 7 high I think. It's an older saw that takes a 5/8" blade that I get from Ellis. Not very many make that size anymore, most all are 3/4.

I use Ellis brand and simply love it,cuts up to 12" square and the head pivots for angles etc. Make sure you get the correct blade for what you are cutting,I run varitooth style from them also and have very good luck with them usually blade will last 1yr or little longer if you make sure your item is ALWAYS CLAMPED TIGHT and you cut the steel with the seam on top

I have a Dake saw just like this and its wonderful for the home shop but replace the blade they supply with a name brand one or it will never cut strait.
