There may be nobody out there making left hand carbide drills.

What are you trying to do?

P.S. Don't think Norseman has them as they are HSS producers. Nor does M.A. Ford, IMCO, Menlo, and PTD whose catalogs I have with their solid carbide ranges.

First thank you all that responded.
I figured the left handed carbide tip would be the logical answer to broken hard fastener removal in the quickest way possible. Seems many respond with answer to broken bolt questions with those two answers (LH drill and carbide tipped drill), I have had some success with too.
Maybe it's just my line of work but often I'm dealing with a broken fastener when in the biggest hurry. When it looks like other methods will probably fail I usually just remove fastener with torch, can be messy though, but is easier if the fastener has a hole clear through it first. Has anyone tried a plasma cutter for this use?

If you can't find a LH carbide drills, you might try RH carbide drills. Not the masonry type, but the industial style that is a standard 2 flute twist drill for metal but with a carbide tip.

I know of many who think that the EZ-Out brand of drill removal is excellent. I've sold thousands of the drill extractors made by Dowley (Old Forge) and Horizon that are sold under their brand names plus JHWilliams and Armstrong. These are the 4 flute style that, in the opinion of some, is excellent as the torque is divided almost equally between 4 points.

A spiral flute screw extractor, for example, contacts the screw at only one point within the hole.

Carbide tipped twist drills and 4 flute drill extractors are available from people like J&L, McMaster Carr, MSC, Travers, etc.

Dave,If you`ve got somethig broken off that requires a carbide drill it would probably be cheaper to find a machine shop that has a EDM or tap disentigrater.Carbide drills are really expensive and are touchy to use

I'm not sheer about carbide but check with Snap-on Tools and check with your local machine shop supplier.

went to plant today machinast said they had never had a left handed carabide bit but bought carabide spad bit and sharpened it for left hand cut have to run real slow and lub heavy they get them at Mc Master Carr
