I mentioned awhile back about searching for a cheap diesel injector tester - or perhaps making one from a hydraulic bottle jack. Well, I did make one from a jack, and it works okay. I searched on Ebay for over a year and could not find any bargains. Then, in an unrelated search for solar panels, I came across a place that has Chinese made diesel injector testers. I bought one, new for $99 and it came with two adaptors. I love it (well, as much as an almost normal person can love a tool). Works every bit as well as my old Bacharach or OTC. It's a d*mn crime we can't buy U.S. built stuff without getting ripped off with extremely inflated prices. A "pop tester" is not high-tech. So, anyway - I was almost going to keep quiet about the testers and start selling them on Ebay. Similar units have been selling for $300 - $400 - sometimes more. But, the heck with it. Anybody wants a good quality, very-low priced tester - call up Hardy Diesel. www.hardydiesel.com or 800-341-7027. Tester is part # 0010961 for $99. Gauge is calibrated in KPA but that's no big deal. Do some math and convert to PSI if desired. Most injector spec. charts provide test pressures in both scales anyway. Also has some small print Chinese characters - don't want to know whay they say. Has two adaptors that come with it. They worked fine for my Ford 6.9 and 7.3 diesels. I had to make an adaptor to fit my Case 207D engine in my 580CK and Deere 152 diesel in my 350 crawler. Making extra adaptors is easy if you have an old fuel line you can cut up. Of course, you can always spend more money if desired, and buy and adaptor set.
