Anybody ever hear of the green machining coolant causing breathing problems if the mist is inhaled?

Thanks everybody for your input. I had a bad reaction that was so inflammed that blood ran out my nose and hard to breath. I"m fixed up now but took some time and medication.

Absolutely! I worked for Vickers making hydraulic pumps for 13 years, dealt with it all the time. Like Bob said, get an MSDS, it'll tell you what you need to know. Of course, when I was laid off the final time after Eaton took them over, I had to sign a waiver releasing Eaton from any liability for any harm those chemicals may have done me in order to receive my severance pay. What a great company!

I knew a man that developed serious lung problems & later died. He blamed his illness on years of running a machine with misting coolant. I have several mist set-ups, but try not to use them. I have one grinding job that I must use it on, but I wear a respirator while doing it.

There should be a MSDS available from the manufacturer that would give you a breakdown of potential horrors of mist inhalation. Misting coolant does give some people respiratory problems and can lead to pnuemonia if not well ventilated.
