This has nothing to do with tractors but you guys are a deverse and far ranging bunch. I have been looking for info on the net but, coming up empty.

I have a Kearney and Trecker 2D rotary head die mill but, no collets for it. They are a double taper collet like the zz collets etc. Does anyone out there know what the proper dimensions are for these and where I might find a set?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I rebuilt a K&T 2D rotary head mill. Collets were not available. If yours has the big nut over the spindle the taper inside is a #30. I bought a common #30 taper collet system from Kennemetal. The K&T collet lock came with an inner piece that matted little double taper collets. It is held inside by a permanant snaprign. No way to get it out. I used a ziz wheel and a dremel tool to cut away pieces of the inner collet. It took some rednecking. I made it into a nut to hold the Kennemetal chuck in place. I also had to turn about .100" of the outside of the Kennemetal chuck so it would fit down into the K&T lockring. The runnout ended up only .00025". Fantastic old machine.

It might be worth checking J&L Industrial Supply, they handle Ericson collets. They might be able to cross reference what you need.

Do a search on the internet for the collets. Then try to call some shops and ask around. My company sold a small chinese lathe and a partial set of 5C collets for $600 to a guy (about a year ago now). Is the machine made by Cross and trecker, Cross and trecker is now Giddings and lewis now I think.

Does it have a nut at the spindle nose, instead of a drawbar??? I have seen a K&T rotary mill, but never ran one. It is a versatile machine, you can do almost any thing with it. Angles, arcs, circles, etc...

It is set up for the nut at the bottom of the spindle but, that too it missing. That piece I'm sure we can build if need be but, would rather buy the collets if we can.
