Mag Lite Flashlight

I have a 6 battery Mag Lite brand flashlight. Of all the flashlights I've owned this one is the only one that apparently has a drag in it somewhere. New batteries regardless of quality will be dead, whether I use it or not, within a month or so. Anyone have such experience? I don't see anything wrong internally. Any ideas? Thanks, Glenn F.

Maglite was the best. Now being taken ove rby led lights. Plus the lamps don't break when a cop is beating someone with his 5 "D" cell flashlight.

Hi Glenn,

If you ever use a rechargable 6v MagLite you will never go back to the "D" cells. There twice as bright and don't do to bad on a charge. About $90 with both chargers but well worth the cost.

no such problem with my 5 d cell mag lite. batteries will last a few years, i buy whatever name brand batteries are on sale.

Yup, the bigger mags with push button switches will drag down batteries quick. I've got one now in the farm truck, it uses C cells, I think its got 4 in it. I've got a plastic plate I made for it to go over the last cell. When its going to sit (like when we're not on the farm which is most of the time) I put the plate in, no more eating batteries.

Glen, Mag Instruments used to have a lifetime guarantee on their lights. In the past, I have sent in those that used regular batteries, and rechargeable units. If it is their fault, they will repair and return to you. Might give a call, and find out if they still do it. They did not stand behind the bulbs or batteries though.

Glenn: Only thing I can suggest is try a digital ohm meter. They are pretty sensitive. Possibly could be a switch. I had 3 different mags for years, the only one I had messed up was a miniature 2 AA battery job that the battery's leaked, just trashed it. Duracell says anything damaged by their bats they will replace, but you know how that goes.

Long ago i had some batts leak in a 6 D cell maglite. I sent it to the batt. mfg., and they sent me a letter telling me i should take the batts out if the light was going to sit around for any length of time.

They also sent me a ck. to cover the cost of a new maglite!
