mgm, Not to sound rude! but... Wash your trailer out!... do not let the manure build up. That is the cheapest way to protect your trailer investment. Do it while it is somewhat wet and it will wash out easily.

Went through this with a couple of cattle trailers in the past; cut strips of sheet metal..... .about 8 or 10 inches wide..... .and welded in; lasted less that 5 years. Bought pressure treated 3/4 inch plywood; ripped into 16 inch strips..... .3 per 48 inch sheet; bolted them in all the way around trailer; they were still there and still good when I sold the trailers; they were on one trailer for at least 10 years. Have always spaced my floor plank with 3/4 or one inch gap so don't have much build-up of manure and never wash them out; don't really know if this makes them rust worse or not.
