YTers:
I bought one of the cheaper paint guns at a clearance sale a few years ago. It is the kind that says for use on equipment or barn painting, not for automotive finish. Now I'm getting ready to do a quick paint job on my Super C, and wondered if this spayer would do an adequate job on the cast parts. I have a small touch-up gun to use on the sheet metal. If I can use the other one on the tractor, it would save me having to fill up the cup so much.

Thanks,
Bill

Strain the paint and get the proper mix. Try it out. I have an old hand me down binks I think it is? Still use it once in a while, 20 some odd years old. I know it was not a top dollar gun.

By all means try out the cheap gun on some scrap steel. I have an expensive Devilbiss gun, and a cheap Harbor Freight gun I purchased to shoot primer. After using the cheap gun, guess which one I prefer. Yup like the cheap one better!

I've got a cheap ($15) Harbor Freight gun that works great for me!! I've used it to paint my tractor as well as painting baseboards, etc. for the house, using latex paint.

I've EASILY gotten my $15 worth out of it...

Just a thought. Try the gun on some of the cast parts. If it meets your approval and standards, just get to painting. If it does not, go to the store and get a better gun. This is a win situation for you.

If you do buy a new gun, go with HVLP type. Must have a large compressor that will produce some air.
