It seems 16 car tires getting to be more common than 15s so Id like to find some 16 wheels for my utility trailer so I can use the old tires from our minivan. I figured I would try to find some salvage wheels but Im having a hard time finding a bolt circle application chart on the web to figure out what makes and models to look for. The trailer has a 5 bolt pattern on a 4.5 circle which was a common Ford/Dodge pattern in the 60s and 70s but I think this may have changed when FWD cars came along. I believe the 4.5 bolt pattern is still fairly common, but I need a 2-7/8 center hole which eliminates allot of the late model cars, since they seem to use a smaller hole. If anybody has a link to a good application chart, listing the center hole diameter Id appreciate the help. All of the custom wheel sites Ive seen, use lookup tables for specific applications and dont show all the applications listed together.

ERT,I beleve the newer Ford Rangers use 16s but I realy like the 700-15 8-ply on my trailer. I also use wagon wheel white spoke, new tires new wheels and no flats in 3 years.

I had the same problem but also, I didn't like the way that radials roll and squirm on the tandem. Mine were on a 5.5 bolt circle with 5 lugs. Chev has 16's but they are 6 lugs.

Couldn't find any used so I priced out 16" new wheels at a discount tire store. The white spoke were cheapest at $35 each.

Went to my regular tire dealer who supplies all sorts of tires and buys in bulk. He had some 700x15 8 ply bias for $40 ea cash and carry.

Boy am I a happy camper. New, not used tire, bias so no squirming of the sidewall, 8 ply so I have the 2000+ load rating of each tire, fit the trailer great, look great and ride great, right price.

Put my usual 4000 # of fireplace logs on it to haul home last winter, and tires didn't even bulge. Hot dog.

Didn't happen. The 16" wheels were my first option. They were to put my new take-offs on, since as stated, p/u's come with 16's (or so) now.

When I found the 15's I mounted them to my existing wheels and much happier than I would have been with the Pxxx radials.

So you guys read this stuff after all..... .Grin.
