Any pro's and cons on an echo weed wacker/trimmer.
The old stihl of 17 years has finally gotten to the point it is not worth repairing. Good spark, not much compression anymore.

Go to the garden tractor and ask Jt he has been selling them for years and he can tell you what comes back for repairs all the time.

Thanks fellas for the reply's. I just invested in an Echo a couple hours ago. The one that has the easy start feature. Figured the wife could even start that without much effort. Got to take care of her, she is the best investment I ever made. Been good to me for right at 50 years. Always figured she dont owe me, but I owe her one Heck of a lot.

Hi Mac,

So what model of Ehco did you buy?

Give me some details on how you like it as I have to go buy one this week.

Anything you don't like about it?

T-Bone:: Just bought the 200i model and was 189 bucks. dont really know how it works yet, made a short trial run. but the starter system on the rope beats yanking it. You could get 2 different string heads, one a spool or one that used 2-8" inserts for the string. I got the latter. Naturally, fuel mix 50:1 is not the same as the other equipment I have. Seems the next one up, you could buy different attachments. Already got that stuff several years ago, as individual units. (before all this stuff was made handier)
Will take some getting used to as the spool runs opposite the old stihl. Check out the echo web site.

MAC, I have 2 Echos that are straight shafts, SRM400BE and the SRM400SE. They are old and have many many hours on both. They have never been in the shop. My son in law spent the big $$ on his 2 yr old straight line Sthil that is costing him a lot of money in shop time. Just never leave fuel in the tank when it will be a while before using again. They have been used for fence clearing, horse trail maint. and heavy brushing with .105 string or blades. Wouldn`t have anything else.

ECHO is the only thing I use. That's what I had when I had my lawn servie too. But what ever you get make sure you buy a straight shaft as opposed to the curved shaft. You won't be all bent over that way.

I've asked every lawn service person I stumble into, and a guy who I used to work with had been a equipment repairman for a big lawn service, and they all said ECHO was a good choice, they held up well.

I haven't bought one yet, but with spring here, I need a new one also.
