Well guys i am going to buy my 3rd spreader in 9 years. Agri-fab,craftsman both junk.These spreaders were used twice a year and the cheap stamped cog wore/corroded out of them both. yes they were washed out completely after each use,i know this as i am the only one that does the fertilizing.I aint afraid to spend good money on a good product.Anybody out there own a Quality spreader that you can suggest?

I have one from Earth Way that I bought almost 20 years ago now and have never had a lick of trouble with it. They are a little expensive but like many things, you get what you pay for. They have a complete line and have homeowner and professionalk models. I see them at farm stores and some feed mills. I have looked at them on the web so I know that have a website. I have helped them sell a few over the years by loaning mine out. Everybody loves it and luckily I have managed to have it returned.

Argi fab and sears are built in the same building in Sullivan IL ,I used to slave away there but usually they hold up really well I always smear my gears with grease to prevent rust after each use and wash very well.

We have one with plastic wheels and they stink. When you buy a new spreader, get one with real rubber wheels

I had a couple and still have them, here is what I did. The gear box was half a** anyhow, so I took it apart. Greased. Resealed mating surfaces and used bolts to keep the sides together tightly. I got these from the local farm supply place. I always prefered a drop spreader, seems they are hard to find unless you buy those push/walk type and I got to much ground to do that.

If you have a large area to cover Northern has a 12v salt spreader that fits into a 2" reciever...

I mounted a 2" recever on the front of my 1620 Power King lawn tractor...put a switch on the dash so I can turn it off/on.....it has about a 80# hopper on it...be sure to sift the fert.through a 1/4" hard ware cloth....don't fill hopper at first.this spreader is adjustable and comes with a setting chart.....Caution --- do your test settings out of the front yard....
