Was given a metal cuttin bandsaw a couple of days ago. It is an "Industerial Metal Bandsaw", and has the folling info on the tag: Southern Tool & Equipment of T.R., Inc. P.O. Box 1106 Travelers Rest, S.C. 29690 Serial # 014876 The blade is 3/4" x 114"(approx)X 1/16", with about 10-12 TPI. The frame (Legs) and pan are of folded and welded 1/8" plate steel. The pan is sealed, but there is not a wet kit on it now. The deck (?) is 3/16" plate steel, & the vise jaws look to be "cast" steel, and they will open to over 14". The jaws have a drop ratchet for quick adjustment. The saw head (?) is constructed with the main beam of 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" x 1/4" thickness. The backing plate is 3/16" I believe. The wheels are of steel, with a turned face for the blade to run against, behind a lip. They are about 12". Except were strength is needed, most of it is made out of 1/8" plate. It has an air cylender, with a bleader valve to controll the rate of decent. It has a 90* gear box to drive the drive wheel, with a three step pully, so I guess it was a "three speed" saw. Was told it ran when they got it, but the blade had a couple of kinks in it, so instead of gitting a new blade, they just shoved it in a corner and forgot about for about the last 20 years. In fact, the motor ran so well, it got up and ran off. If anyone has any info about a saw of this type, please help. Need to know everything about the motor, how to align the saw if you can help.
