Im looking at a used 20 ton shop press, I dont see a name but the bottle jack has made in china on it. The frame is 6" wide but seems only 3/16" thick
channel iorn. Does anyone have a Harbor Freight
or similar 20 ton press, if so how thick is the
steel in the frame?

Ive had an HF 20ton for about 10 years. The channel on it is about 6 inch and its about 3/16 thick. Probably the same Chinese press no matter whose name, if any, is on it. It gets the job done ok as long as you accept the fact that it is a cheap machine. The only weak spot I have found is the pins that support the adjustable carriage bend at near max pressure, that may be intentional as a safety feature. Or maybe just cheap material,I"m not sure which. Other than that the only problems Ive had are more frustrating than functional. Lack of finer adjustments, limited stroke and slow. Make sure you get a good heavy plates to use on it, they help spread the load on the carriage, which may be more important on a cheap machine than a more expensive one.

Sounds about like my 20 ton HF unit.
If it is used, it should be prteey cheap. They are on sale for $170 new right now.

they want 150, does your HF press frame on the sides have about the same size channel steel as
this one?
