I often get alot of folks in my shop that have gey market hoes that cant get teeth for them. to save worn teeth i weld on old leaf spring as a liner. i learned it being an operator and a good mechainic showed me how to use scrap parts, the spring is a good quality steel plus its easy to weld, He put some on the 200 Komatsu i operate in sand and rock super abravi and lasts along time

Hi Robert, sure it would extend the life. Would it be cost effective? If you doing the work yourself then yes, but to pay to have it done, probably not. Run the beads to the width of the tooth and a big "Z" over the top of the beads.

Robert, I find that on the smaller hoes it is barely cost effective to hard surface them. The way I do mine, I only do the top and 3/4 or more of the sides [self sharpening] with stringer beads touching - running lenght-ways of the tooth.
