As a follow up to the last post, what do you all use to get out square head plugs that have the square hole in the middle? I have used 1/2 and 3/4" breaker bars stuck directly in the hole in the plug, but I have a few around that are bigger than that. Is there a real tool for it, or do you just have to resort to a piece of appropriately sized bar stock? Brian

I have used a piece of keystock, I grind it to size, like 3/4 or 5/8 or 1/2 it works great.

K&D makes a set of 3/8-drive sockets with an assortment of male square drives for that. I darn near bought a set today while looking for the female ones.

Do you know the stock number? I looked all over K/D Tools online catalog and couldn't find anything like that. Thanks for the help!

Local Seconds & Overstock outlet has a set for something like $35. I'm pretty sure that's an excellent price for K+D. I could grab it for ya if ya like, shouldn't cost much to ship it to wherever. Email me if you're interested.

They are called pipe plug sockets and are sold by most tool trucks.Of course Snap on makes a combination set of common sizes 211PPPMY that runs North of $100. SK also makes a set as well as individual sizes. The KD catalog I have only lists two male sizes 8 & 10mm set number 3322. There maybe more listed in a newer catalog. I've used reducers or adapters or 8 point sockets for male plugs to do the job. Whatever brand you get make sure you can easily warranty it as you'll probably shear the male end off sooner or later.
