Propane Tanks

I priced new and refurbished 300 and 500 gal.tanks and they are out of sight around here in north central Ohio. Anyone out there have any used ones reasonable and are you coming through Ohio I'd take at least 2 they need to be good as I am using them for propane.

Thanks for the reminder. Been looking at that 500 gallon and thinking about getting another or going to 1000, and moving it. And having one that I own. Thought I owned this one, but when hooked up with my brother-in-laws propane supplier, well I don't, at least not now if I ever did. Was just eyeballing that this past weekend. Thanks for the reminder.

You can run the numbers real fast. If you can scrape up the bread to make the purchase, your own tank will pay for it'self in rent money saved in less than a year.

I don't know about 1 yr ? I think they only charge $35.00 a year rent,BUT when you get fuel it cost you at least around 10 cents more a gallon. Big factor would be in how much fuel you use. I don't like being tied to one company. If you have your own tank sometimes you can price shop.

I forgot about that....true true. The leasing co's were always the higher priced.

Last time I leased one (15 yrs ago) a 500 gallon was going for $60 per year plus the fuel surcharge you mentioned.

In that size they run about a buck a gallon around N. Tx. used. Nothing wrong with a used one. Don't know what they use for steel but it sure resists rusting. Worst thing that you could have is a safety valve leaking. The LP delivery guy has em for about $35 and installs it for you B4 filling your tank (free).

I always heard that $1.00 per gallon size used to buy them ? Was only 2 years ago I bought an almost new one for about that. Thing that gets me is that alot of propane sellers have fields full of them,but they won't sell them .
They only like to lease tanks. Level propane went kaput a few years back and there is still a fenced in yard full of tanks at thier old location.

Shop around. They do the same thing here, but you can find used ones for sale.

We have about 5 companies occupying the same geographical area and competetion is keen.

When I call my delivery guy he is there in a matter of hours. Has pre-pay where we can buy propane when it is cheap during the summer and they deliver it when you ask for it throughout the year.
