My Pumptrol aircompressor switch turns on and off on schedule, but bleeds air all the time. When I push the lever up it will not stay up until pressure drops, then the bleeding stops. Is there an adjustment or is it time to replace? Bill

I don't know how your compressor is set up, but if there is an "unloader" on your pressure switch, and the check valve between your compressor pump and the tank is leaking, air will continue to backflow through the check valve and out the "unloader" untill tank pressure drops enough to trip the pressure switch and restart thr compressor (and close the "unloader").

If your pressure switch is equipped with an "unloader", there will be a small copper or aluminum line connected to it, in addition to the connection to the pressure switch diaphragm.

There is a small tube coming off the compressor with a spring loaded shutoff on the switch end. When the compressor shuts off a lever drops on this shutoff allowing air to be released. When the unit starts up again the lever rises and then falls on shutoff. After the pressure has dropped 20psi the lever can be manually pushed up in place and the air stops.

Yup, it sounds like you need to fix the check valve in the compressor air discharge line.

Thanks Bob. I'll pull the check valve out and clean or replace.
