Pigeon Control Worker?

Apparently he/she disapproved of the noise of my jointer and moved as far away from it as she could get.

This solves a mystery. Up until this winter I've been plagued by pigeons parading back and forth on that track, bombing my lumber piles. While using up my basswood I twice had to change the planer blades because of the grit.

But there haven't been any pigeons in the mow this winter. To get that fat she must be a good mouser, too.

My enemy's enemy is my friend.

Seems the first thing a racoon/burglar does is find a flat surface and have a bowel movement. Then the culprit walks through it every time it moves across the boat.

Everybody on the dock kicked in and still the cleanup took half a day.

I live-trapped and executed the large female. Her kits have never come back.

About the rabies: two years ago in our area the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources hired every trapper and ex-conservation officer they could find to trap and innoculate racoons for rabies. The idea was to create a 50 mile buffer zone of innoculated racoons to keep out the deadly U.S. strain of rabies. One contractor caught and dosed sixteen coons, one fisher and two cats in our 20 acre woodlot. He said the fisher caused the least trouble, the tomcats the most.

Chances are excellent that the coon in my barn has an ear tag, but I don't know if I want four or five little ones snooping around.

Birds and airplanes generally do NOT MIX, especially in the SPRING.

After many attempts to discourage the birds from nesting, an old WWI veteran came by and guess what?

He mounted a small piece of plywood in each corner of the hangar. The plywood was located up in the roof trusses. On the plywood he put a big GLOB of Marfak grease.

For some reason, this fixed the bird problem. OWLS didn't like it though.

The ole vetran said " birds don't like greasy feet!
