How do you guys clean these things?

Okay, I know that this is an "elementary" question, but:

I have a bunch of funnels and oil pans, etc. in the garage. What can I clean them with so that they can be used for other purposes? For example, if I use a funnel to add oil, how do I clean it so that I can use it for antifreeze, etc??? I am sure that there must be a way to "decontaminate" this stuff. How do you guys do it?

Thanks for your thoughts. I know that funnels are cheap, but some of the other oil pans and things are items that I'd like to keep. I was just wondering how you guys kept things clean.

dont know what you mean by other things but for drain pans try them plastic pans for doin dishes in. they might work

I dont have but 3 of them. I use gumout carb cleaner on them and just wipe them out. The gas one, I just hang up on the wall, blow it out when I need it.

Did i miss something here or are funnels still on sale like 3 for a buck at the dollar store? get one for each purpose and if you make a special one for a certain use then there ya go its only used for that.

wipe it out best as you can and spray a little brake parts cleaner and wipe again.

wipe it out. Just how much oil are you gonna get into the Antifreeze and how much antifreeze in the oil? Zilch. If it bothers you...mineral spirits wipe the oil...antifreeze is water soluable so you can wash it.

I have a cabinet to keep them in to keep them clean between uses. The big ones are washed outside with the pressure washer and soap the smaller ones that will fit are wiped out as good as I can and put in the dishwasher..... .discalamer..... .do this while the wife is at work.

I store mine in plastic bags to keep them clean. I also wash them with carb. cleaner when needed. BTW, Plastic gin bottles make good funnels for most new automobiles; they screw right into the valve cover. Just cut the bottles in half. I don't bother to keep these in bags; I just "finish off" another bottle when I need a funnel. LOL Brian G. NY

Old ketchup bottles and round 1qt oil bottles work well as funnels too. Just cut off the bottom and they're good to go.
