I was trying to repair my trusty Makita 9.6 v cordless drill without the benefit of experience or repair manual. I started out trying to replace the brushes. But I could not get the case open. In trying to remove the clutch/chuck I rotated the clutch adjustment ring 180 degrees and now it doesn't work at all. Can anyone tell me how to get this thing apart without breaking it? All advice would be welcome.

If yours fell off a 6 ft. ladder like mine did It sounds like a brush problem but it is actually busted cogs on the three little nylon gears I ordered 3 new ones for about 4.00 If you rotated your clutch 180 and doesnt work then rotote back 180

You can't replace the brushes in that drill. The motor is a sealed unit.
To open the case some of the screws are hidden behind the labels.
I worked at the makita plant in Buford Ga. as a machinest.
