I have have the chance to buy a lincoln sa 200 welder for $500.00 can anyone tell me how old they are and if you can still find parts for they

Paintman, If it runs don't pass it up. I got one recently. They are great. I went from a very bad welder to a halfway decent welder, cause the SA-200s are soo easy to weld with. Very smooth DC arc. Mine is very old, 43 I think with a hand crank to start. Two pulls everytime and she starts. It runs great, idles down so slow you think it's going to stall. They are really nice machines. Lincoln is a real nice company to deal with also. All parts are available. I wrote tham and told them I want to get new decals cause I painted mine. They sent them right out, no charge. They have manuals and parts books on line. Let me know if you have any questions about the machine. I got into it pretty good.

i was wondering if you could give me the web address for parts and possibly a source for a catalog. my father in law has recently aquired a red face copper wound and would like to get it running. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ben, I found it by typing "lincoln" into google. Here's the web site. Go to Knowledge Base then ask the experts, then contacts. You can email them with any questions. They have the parts books and manuals on line. They will show you where to download them from. Then you can call and place an order with the parts numbers. What is a red face copper wound? What model is it? You can also email me if you want.

i have two one is a 1948 the other is a 1971...they go back earlier than mine i believe the first was air cooled..... ....have nice day may god bless

Hi Larry,

Gees Larry, I don't know when the SA machines came out but I remember them in the late 60's and they still build them today. There one of the finest welding machines ever built.

There should be no problem getting parts from Lincoln.

If the machine welds good, $500 is a steal. Let me know if you don't buy it!

The welders may be older than we think 50s or even 40s. The first pipeliner was hand crank then later 6 volt starter. These were short hoods with little gas caps. Next was long hood big gas cap and guages, starter switch on welder end. Also better idler. Later they have 12volt and distributor. I have a couple and really like them. The 110 volt outlet is DC so do not use a variable speed tools. I have never had any problem running a grinder. If it doesn"t weld right get an armature stone and stone the armatures. I put platinum plugs out of a 352 ford and it starts very good with 6 volt. 500 is a low price if it runs and welds. Hope you get it. Billy
