Bill,

I just go around to these farm auctions and can usually buy all I want for around a quarter or fifty cents each.

If you have the time, that would be the way to go.

Bill, you can still buy the old gas cans just like grandad had. Do a search for "old ironside cans", best part, they are dang cheap.

Just did a Google search, and found a brand-new "Old Ironsides" for less than $19, shipping included (10.89 + 7.99).

If you buy in multiples of six, the cost drops to $8.88/ea plus shipping.

Now all you need to do is save up enough money to fill up that new can, and that ain't easy these days, at $2+ per gallon...

It is the law that all portable fuel cans sold in Pennsylvania must have a spill-proof spout. This law took effect on January 1, 2003. I think many other states also have a similar law. I think the idea started in California. Big surprise?? Hope this helps.

Spill proof??? What a laugh! Ever try to use on on a chain saw? More gas is spilled on the ground than goes in the tank. And forget about using it to fill your pickup tank. The spout is too short to open the "leaded gas" restrictor. And where is leaded gas available now? We are stuck with the restricter forever thanks to the dummies that can't change a law once they make it.
Don't forget, if you contact anyone/anything NOT from planet Earth, you are subject to a fine and imprisonment. (Really!)

I think maybe PLEWS still makes what you are talking about. Pretty pricey tho. Not much change left out of 100$ bill.

You can buy the surplus NATO gas cans and flexible spouts pretty reasonable from a site called www.cheaperthandirt.com
