I'am going to be doing some injector work on a diesel engine. I was wondering if someone knows of a source to obtain an assortment of plastic line caps and plugs to cap off the fittings and lines to prevent dirt entry?

Eastwood has an assortment of caps used in sand blasting, but I think they are for covering screw holes to keep the sand out.

Hey Scott, here's a link to the place we get our caps from. As the name implys the majority of items in their catalog are plastic, from chemical tanks to lab equipment to poly barrels, to whatever..... you name it they've most likely got it. The best thing about them though are the prices. When I found them we were looking to refill our supply and it was pretty costly to get a suitable quantity of all the different sizes like we were wanting through our usual sources like McMaster-Carr, MSC, etc. In the end I believe we wound up getting a few of all the sizes they listed. Going through everybody else it was gonna cost an arm and a leg for what we wanted. Through this place we wound up with a box 2 foot square full for in the neighborhood of $25. They have a pretty good, free, printed catalog also.

Thanks Wayne. Just what I was looking for. I know the parts stores have assortments but you only get a few caps of each size so you have to buy several sets to get caps for one pump job. And at up to $8 to $10 a pop per set, it adds up fast! Just to cap pump, lines and injectors it takes 24 small caps on a 6 cylinder engine.

I get them at my local fuel injection repair shop. They just gave me a bunch in different sizes, since they know they get my pump & injector work anyway.

All the tool trucks have them.Years ago my Dad made a set on his wood lathe for me.Being wood they seeped a little right through.Since made an aluminum set on the lathe.I wrote to the Cap Plug company once because they were listed in THE RACERS REFERENCE GUIDE I recieved absolutly zero response.I think they only want to know you if your buying ten thousand of them.
